Officiellement formée comme peintre, Parsons est reconnue pour ses monotypes noirs qui utilisent un ensemble de techniques picturales pour évoquer des univers oniriques en lien avec des problèmes sociaux et politiques. La pièce Cinq a été stylistiquement influencée par Philip Guston et aborde les contacts physiques rapprochés durant la période de confinement.
Bea Parsons, based in Tiohtiá:ke/Montréal, is best known for her drawings and prints. Parsons holds a BFA in painting and drawing from Concordia University and an MFA in visual art from Columbia University. In her practice, she has focused primarily on black-and-white monoprints and, recently, coloured pencil drawings on archival paper. Her haunting and seductive world is filled with characters, landscapes, and symbols culled from a wide variety of sources, from the personal, to the esoteric, to the art-historical.
She has had solo exhibitions at McBride Contemporain (Montréal), Franz Kaka (Toronto), and Tappeto Volante Gallery (New York). Her works have been acquired by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée d’art de Joliette, Collection Hydro-Québec, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, the Royal Bank of Canada, Collection Desjardins, BLG, Scotiabank, and Equitable Bank.
