Notice biographique

Derek Sullivan is a contemporary visual artist from Toronto. In his multidisciplinary practice, he employs drawing, sculpture, book works, and installation to engage with legacies of modernist art and design. He questions familiar forms and genres, often to examine the links between one discipline and another. Books and the act of reading have consis- tently been central to his practice.

Sullivan’s work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and the Agnes Etherington Art Centre. He has been nominated five times for the Sobey Art Award, and was shortlisted in 2012. He is an associate professor at OCAD University, Toronto.
