2020 Visual Diary: 2020-06-07 (Still Life) fait partie de mon projet 2020 Visual Diary, entamé peu après la propagation de la covid-19 à Montréal. Du 18 mars 2020 au 17 mars 2021, pendant 365 jours sans interruption, j’ai documenté les changements de la nature en photo et avec de courts textes dans le but de réfléchir à notre relation avec elle. J’ai partagé mes photos et mes textes quotidiennement sur les réseaux sociaux, dans l’intention de reconstruire notre relation avec la nature au moment où la plupart des gens étaient confinés chez eux – et aussi pour leur remonter le moral.
Notice biographique
Hua Jin is a visual artist based in Montreal. Jin received her MFA at Concordia University and her BFA at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Jin’s media are photography, installation, and video. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada, China, the United States, Mexico, Holland, and Iceland. One of her works is permanently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal, and her works were exhibited in the Canadian Pavilion at International EXPO 2020 in Dubai. Jin has attended several residencies and has received many awards and grants, including the first Cultural Diversity in Visual Arts Award from the Conseil des arts de Montréal. Jin’s works are in private and public collections, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts; Canada Global Affairs; the Ville de Montréal; the Montreal Art Council; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai. Her projects are supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des Lettres du Québec. In her practice, Jin contemplate the idea of permanence and change, of the passing time and the evanescent quality of existence. She focuses on the spiritual, memorial, and meditative side of nature and its related human stories.
