Skin 6 fait partie d’un corpus de 2023 qui présente une série de compositions complexes et colorées utilisant des formes inspirées des différentes étapes du développement de l’araignée. De plus petites œuvres comme Skin 6 sont des détails tirés d’œuvres plus grandes. Les lignes rouges se fraient un chemin dans la composition, alors que les formes évoquent des créatures arachnéennes et semblables à des insectes en pleine transformation.
Emma Welch’s studio practice circulates around a process of production that she calls “field psychedelia.” She is a co-founder and collective member of the plumb, an artist-run project space in Toronto.
Her work has been shown at Christie Contemporary (Toronto), Norberg Hall (Calgary), Hunt Gallery (Toronto), Project Underwing (Toronto), Galerie Nicolas Robert (Montréal), Erin Stump Projects (Toronto), and Egret Egress (Toronto). She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. Her work is in the Scotiabank Fine Art Collection, the Royal Bank of Canada Corporate Art Collection, the Equitable Bank Art Collection, and several private collections both locally and internationally. She holds a BAH from the University of Guelph.
