The Kiev photo series takes is name from a camera, the Soviet-made Kiev 60, bought in a used camera shop in Saint Petersburg. Signs of the creative process—staging, lighting, accessories—are visible in the images in this series, which is meant to be a study of the photographic object, a kind of stance in favour of materiality.
