Conceived during a creative residency at Centre Est-Nord-Est, this work is inspired by the boreal flora observed in the Charlevoix and Côte-Nord regions. The ink drawing is enhanced with coloured embroidery. We can see different types of lichen, Labrador tea, and cloudberry.
Biographical note
Karine Locatelli, born in Lévis, has lived in the Charlevoix region since 2013. She holds a master’s degree from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. She divides her time between creative projects and cultural presentation and mediation. Through her drawn landscapes, she pursues the plein-air tradition of her region. Her work has been in group and solo exhibitions and at art fairs, and she has attended creative residencies in Québec, Ontario, and France. She develops projects that highlight creation in rural regions, notably in Anticosti with Résidence nomade. Her works are included in public and private collections including the Musée d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, the David Suzuki Foundation, La Ville de Lévis, La MRC de Charlevoix, and TD Bank in Toronto.
