Muddle

Technique mixte sur toile déchirée, 2020

25.4 x 25.4 cm

Muddle is a mixed media painting with rich texture and a soft color pallet. Before priming the surface of this canvas, sections of the canvas material were seam-ripped, meaning threads were horizontally and vertically plucked away to reveal textures within the surface.

Next, the seam-ripped areas were backed by patches to create depth, and the painting process took inspiration from the world outside my studio window, as I stayed inside self-isolating and watching the world outside turn from Winter to Spring, to Summer.
