Biographical note
In her artistic practice, My-Van Dam is interested in the transmission of intergenerational trauma, memory, vulnerability, resilience and the healing process. More specifically, Dam's work explores the consequences of traumatic events on our individual and collective memory, and the impact of trauma on our physical and psychological health, interpersonal relationships and identity. Through the use of a variety of mediums and techniques (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, installation and video), Dam seeks to expose the vulnerability that inhabits each individual and to demonstrate human complexity through artistic experiences. Her goal is also to challenge viewers about their own condition so that they can question and reflect on these themes in order to seek courage and inner peace.
