Preda, Estée

Estée Preda's illustrations transport the viewer into a curious narrative universe on the edge of our world. Like a broken mirror, they are shards of truth that blend together to become a complex and cryptic narrative. 

Here, a passive woman awaits her liberation. By the title, I imagine that she looked at herself in the mirror for too long before dropping it. Seven terrible years of bad luck according to superstition. Her punishment, however, turns out to be a long moment of peace to contemplate, through the golden bars, the flora that surrounds her. This story might just show there is no harm in liking your own reflection.
