Installés à Montréal, les frères Sanchez créent des impressions photographiques de grand format dont l’envergure est cinématographique et le contenu, fascinant. Tableaux sinistres se lisant comme des récits interrompus, leurs photos présentent des scènes riches et complexes qui explorent les paysages psychologiques en laissant aux spectateurs le soin d’activer les éléments cachés de l’histoire. Chacune de leurs photos stupéfiantes est mise en scène méticuleusement, ce qui augmente encore leur caractère intriguant et leur aura de mystère.
Notice biographique
Carlos and Jason Sanchez are a team of artists living and working in Montreal. They exhibit their art internationally and have had solo shows in cities such as Montreal, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Brussels, Strasbourg, Madrid, and Amsterdam. Their work is included in many public and private collections, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, the Martin Z. Margulies Collection, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (Quebec City), the Gemeentemuseum Helmond (the Netherlands), the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the J. Paul Getty Museum (Los Angeles), and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. They have also created installation projects that have been exhibited in Canada and the United States. In 2016 the brothers wrote and directed their first feature film, A Worthy Companion, staring Evan Rachel Wood, Julia Sarah Stone and Denis O’Hare. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017. It was produced by micro_scope. They are also writing and will be directing their second feature film, The Last Weekend, which is being produced by The Film Farm. Production is slated for 2018.
