The Portal series explores the results of the construction, deconstruction and reconstruction processes. Like those who seek to understand the fabric of existence, I ask what are the mechanics at work in what we observe? How can I transform them and expand into more dimensions?
Biographical note
Educated in Environmental Design, Laura is drawn to the geologic context which shapes design from cups to buildings. Her ceramic practice pushes the limits of the material by employing various construction techniques and modifying the structure of the raw material by adding minerals. The creation of each piece is an opportunity for experimentation.
