The project Lost Love presents a journey through grief, through an amalgam of acts of remembrance. It observes the correlations between bereavement processes and natural spaces, materials and rhythms, that serve as the ultimate guides for pathways of resiliency and renewal. The pillow “Flowers for the ancestors” was made for the exhibition Lost Love — Saisons futures, presented at Gallery 44. Drawing inspiration from South-African rituals of commemorations for the dead, who become our ancestors, the bouquet is composed of flowers native to the region, as well as some symbolizing death and herbs used in healing rituals.
