Quand le chasseur rentre avec des champignons, on ne lui demande pas des nouvelles de sa chasse is from a series of paintings inspired by historical portrayals of hunting scenes. In his pictorial work, Nicolas Ranellucci questions the narration and temporality of the fairy tale. In this manner, each stratum of his painting, which constitutes a precise moment of the mythical hunting tale, captures and immobilizes playful and preposterous elements. The artist juxtaposes the remnants of an unforeseeable course in a mise-en-scène provoking the emergence of their impossible simultaneity.
