Julie Bélisle

Julie Bélisle is an art historian with a doctorate in art history; in her dissertation she examined the use of material culture in contemporary art. She has over twenty years’ experience in research, conservation, and cultural action in the museum sector. Since 2022, she has held the position of curator of exhibitions at Biosphère, Espace pour la vie, where she collaborates on the development of visual and performing arts programming related to environmental issues.

Manel Benchabane
Manel Benchabane

Manel Benchabane is the head of exhibitions at the Stewart Hall Art Gallery. Her exhibitions include La mouvance des sons, Petites baleines à dents – Cynthia Girard-Renard, Entre les lignes – Writing Mountains, and Prendre empreinte – Holding Knowledge. She is interested in nature and the environment, diversity and cultural issues, heritage and feminism. She is a regular contributor to various contemporary art publications and has served on various committees and juries.

Anaïs Castro
Anaïs Castro

Anaïs Castro is a curator and author living between Montréal and New York. She has organized exhibitions and projects in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and China. She is a founding member of the curatorial collective The Department of Love, which has presented projects in Shanghai, London, and online. She is an editorial member of Daily Lazy and contributes regularly to different publications.

Anne Roger
Anne Roger

Anne Roger is a collections manager and contemporary art curator. She holds a master’s degree in philosophy of art from Université Paris 8 and has held executive positions in public and private cultural institutions internationally. After three years as manager of the Collection Giverny Capital, she is now curator of the Collection Desjardins, which comprises almost three thousand Canadian artworks.

Laurent Vernet
Laurent Vernet

Laurent Vernet is the director of the Galerie de l’Université de Montréal. He worked for the Bureau d’art public de la Ville de Montréal from 2009 to 2018, and for the Collection Lune Rouge from 2018 to 2020. He has curated, among others, the exhibitions Granche/Atelier/Ville (UdeM, 2023) on the work of Pierre Granche (1948–1997), and Alexandre David’s D’une place à une autre (UdeM, Galerie des arts visuels de l’Université Laval, Criterium, 2024).

Sylvette Babin
Sylvette Babin

Sylvette Babin is director of Les éditions Esse. She holds an MFA in studio arts from Concordia University and for many years has had a multidisciplinary art practice. She has published in various books and is particularly interested in contextual art forms staging the body or employing writing as an apparatus, as well as practices raising ethical and environmental issues.
