Fluvial; paysage annoncé

$2 200
The painting Fluvial; paysage annoncé is part of a body of work called Sur la route, entre sarts et bois, produced between October 2008 and March 2010. It was inspired by a trip through the Côte-Nord—north shore of the lower Saint Lawrence River—a region marked by its vastness. This aspect of the Côte-Nord kindled Boulva's interest in our modes of territorial occupation and affirmation, whose various signposts function as symbols. Fluvial; paysage annoncé presents a close-up view of shrubbery, drawn in linear fashion. At the centre, a blue square signals the presence of a road sign; it remains anonymous. Only the colour and title suggest the announced space: Saint Lawrence estuary. The landscape, here, is less a manifestation than an evocation.
