This drawing from the Raccords series is emblematic of Jean-Sébastien Denis’s work. Through the interrelation of its many elements, the work becomes a field of tensions, between painting and drawing, line and blot, impulse and construction. Space is constantly interrogated, moving, impossible to resolve. A universe is created and recreated, expression and perception are players in the same theatre; an array of forms comes in play in this mobile abstraction and, thus, from chaos a strange equilibrium is achieved.
