For over a decade, Nadia Myre’s multidisciplinary practice has been inspired by participant involvement as well as recurring themes of longing and loss, identity and language. The Forgiveness Project is a collection of statements expressing events or feelings for which people seek forgiveness, posted anonymously on the Forgiveness blog. This work is ongoing and connects to previous text-based work as well as to participatory works like The Scar Project. For the recent exhibition Pardonnez-moi at La Maison des artistes visuel francophones in Saint-Boniface, Manitoba, Myre created an edition of 17 individual prints on an electric printing press.
Biographical note
Nadia Myre is from Quebec and is a member of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg. She is a graduate of Emily Carr University and Camosun College and holds an MFA from Concordia University. Myre’s work has been written about in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Canadian Art, Monopol, and ArtNews. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards — notably the Prix à la création artistique du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec pour la région des Laurentides in 2009 and a fellowship from the Eiteljorg Museum in 2003. Myre’s work is exhibited nationally and internationally and can be found in public and corporate collections across Canada.
