IRIX-8 is part of a series of screen prints that combine unusual colours and tonal shifts to transform simple cloud forms into uncanny mood pieces. Working with multiple layers of transparent ink, Hyckie printed colour gradients to create delicately tactile, optically vibrating images intended to confuse the delineation between form and space.
Biographical note
Meaghan Hyckie’s prints and drawings represent simple iconography, channelling the sentiments and anxieties that this imagery evokes into visually and emotionally complex works. Hyckie has exhibited across Canada with Galerie Nicolas Robert (Montreal), Olga Korper Gallery (Toronto), Macaulay & Co. Fine Art (Vancouver), Museum London, and the Art Gallery of Windsor. Her work is included in the collection of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Museum London, and the BMO and RBC Corporate Art collections.
