Biographical note
My work is primarily focused on instances of accidental art-making found throughout the urban landscape. I’m interested in the unconscious and incidental gestures made by ordinary citizens with seemingly no aesthetic concern or creative impulse, apathetically motivated only to fulfill a menial and ephemeral task. Whether it be the removal of vandalism, or an attempt to save a parking space, these tasks from non-artists are never executed with any consideration for their aesthetic appeal, yet employ particular art-making strategies from specific moments within the history of painting and sculpture. My work catalogues these temporary incidents in the form of carefully crafted paintings, collaborations with strangers where most of the compositional decisions have already been defined.
