Dessin d'une scène domestique.
Biographical note
It is through the observation of daily life that Allie Gattor’s creative process begins. She is captivated by the subtle, off-beat quality of certain situations, emotions and people. Drawing in a style reminiscent of illustrations found in children’s books of another era, she combines unschooled linework and playful colours with dark humour and a slight feeling of discomfort. Allie uses pen, pencil, ink, watercolour and marker and works in a variety of formats. With a fondness for the oddity of the human condition, she transfers situations or emotions she encounters onto paper, in the form of a made-up world of deadpan characters. Although autobiographical and cathartic, her work is often relatable due to the recurring banal themes and scenes of domesticity portrayed, often tainted with feelings of angst, frustration or ennui, but always with a playful twist.
