Biographical note
Inspired by abstract expressionism and fueled by the spirituality and mysticism of Eastern and Western philosophies, my artistic practice represents the culmination of my Asian-Canadian identity and my relationship with the intangible world. Composed predominantly of pastel colors and vibrant bursts of color, my gestural abstractions celebrate a beauty of quiet nature influenced by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. I choose to work abstractly, without the distraction of overtly recognizable imagery, allowing the visual experience of my art to be highly personal and different for each observer.
Regardless of the form in which my work presents itself, its aim is to provide the viewer with a sense of closure that sometimes doesn't exist in life. My art reminds the viewer that the self does not exist independently, and that we are all irrevocably connected to one another through time and space.
