Biographical note
Sheila Nadimi explores a wide visual range, from spare minimalist to expressionistic mark making, where each series takes on clear ‘rules of engagement’. The freedom and limitations have helped her refine and continually redefine her vocabulary. Her work is united by a commitment to abstraction, which the artist feels is the language that best describes her reflections into our precise moment in time and the timeless. In recent years Sheila Nadimi has found inspiration in the lectures of the South African physicist Neil Turok where he contrasts our ‘messy middle’ at the human scale with the supreme simplicity and elegance of the largest and smallest scales of the universe.
