Sluice II

Coloured pencil and acrylic on muslin over record sleeve, 2022

33 × 33 cm
Estimate
$3 600

Drawing parallels to both body and machine through commonalities of colour and design, in the pastel tones of reflected metal and shades of what lies beneath the skin, and the mechanical fan as analog for pumping, cyclical hearts, Sluice II depicts a fan stuck in motion.

Composed on a 33 x 33 cm surface of muslin stretched over a record sleeve, and rendered with coloured pencils, applied in delicate and purposeful layering resulting in a jewel-like finish, this work is emblematic of a practice ultimately concerned with vitality and life.
