Oyster is part of a public installation presented in 2022 on the façade of the Contemporary Art Gallery and at Yaletown-Roundhouse Station, both in Vancouver, in which Bui offered two suites of images as reflections on the relationships among sense, sensation, and desire. Although they reference the conventions of commercial advertising and display, allusions to the body are plentiful and are manifested in this specific work through overt and symbolic references as ways to engage, confuse, and invite reflection on the ways in which we consume and discard objects and images alike.
