This drawing from the Raccords series is emblematic of Jean-Sébastien Denis’s work. By relating multiple elements, the work becomes a territory open to tensions, between painting and drawing, line and stain, impulse and construction. Space, shifting and impossible to quantify, is constantly questioned. A universe is created and recreated, expression and perception playing in the same piece of theatre; this mobile abstraction joins together a diversity of forms, thus creating a strange equilibrium from chaos.
