Les choses douces - q is part of a series of 26 engravings that began in 2016. At the core of this series lies the need to study my workshop objects, seemingly insignificant, neither useful nor waste: old rags, damaged acetates, cardboard boxes, accumulated piles of various plastics, lighting gelatin scraps, etc. Similar to a herbarium, which is a physical support in botany that brings together a collection of different studies of flattened plants, my series presents the collection of graphic traces left by my workshop objects.
Biographical note
Photogravure is the means through which I free the object from its material dimension, preserving only its indexical imprint. I am strongly inspired by an aesthetic that resembles the positive imagery of radiographs or the art of shadow puppetry.
