Huile sur panneau de bois, 2019
In most cases, my work is planned through a repertoire of created or found objects that I consider archetypal. I use and reuse these to iterate symbolic allusions to psychological states, memory, history and individuality. My paintings stand as autonomous units, but also as installation objects where their symbolic references can be recited and better considered.
In the case of this work, wood and hay interest me because of their worn/aged physical state, which suggests their individual history, but also for their cultural importance at the beginning of sedentary life. They are witnesses of the development of humanity.
