Lagacé, Michel

My recent explorations are characterized by painted forms in the center of monochromatic surfaces, and paradoxically, each of these forms is overloaded with abstract patterns, colorful rhythms, or black and white motifs from various sources. These propositions have a connection to the carnivalesque, as well as diverse references, sometimes ethnological or simply related to painting. My work is a play on polysemy. Starting from fragments of my own works assembled into new forms, this exploration of space born from the process of collage fuels these artworks that question the nature, emergence, and reception of artistic work.
